Von der Leyen calls on the EU to prepare for a complete halt to gas supplies from Russia

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in an interview with the Portuguese newspaper Diario de Notícias, that Europe needs to prepare for a complete halt to gas imports from Russia.

Earlier, it was reported that the President of the European Commission announced a partial or complete cut-off of gas supplies from Russia to 12 EU member states.

According to von der Leyen, the EU is now turning to “more reliable” energy partners.

“We are receiving more and more gas from Norway, the Arab Gulf states, Algeria or the Caspian region,” said the European Commission president. “We already have record amounts of LNG shipments from the United States.”
