US sends planes and aircraft carriers to Taiwan ahead of Pelosi’s visit

Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din – The United States has sent planes and aircraft carriers stationed in the area closest to Taiwan ahead of the possible arrival of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

According to Japan’s Nikkei newspaper, “The military initially opposed the visit, but now appears to be creating a buffer zone for Pelosi’s plane in case she decides to make the controversial visit.”

The China Times writes that Pelosi may arrive in Taiwan on August 2, and on Wednesday, August 3, she may meet with the island’s administration chief. The Taiwanese Foreign Ministry has not confirmed this information yet.

Meanwhile, China has repeatedly warned the speaker of the US House of Representatives against such a visit, stressing that Chinese forces will not “just sit and watch.”
