The price of one thousand cubic meters of gas on the spot market in Europe reached 2500 dollars.
“According to conservative estimates, if the trend continues, prices will exceed $4,000 per thousand cubic meters in winter,” Gazprom said in a statement.
Earlier, the US agency Bloomberg reported that the sharp rise in gas prices led to the fact that European electricity prices jumped to a new record. Consequently, electricity prices in Germany rose by 3.7% to €477.50 per megawatt-hour, which is six times higher than in the same period in 2021.
On August 15, the price of gas in Europe exceeded $2.4 thousand for the first time since March 2022.
Before that, it became known that the highest price of gas in Europe was recorded in the Netherlands.
