Discarded puppies rescued from discarded suitcase – video

Four abandoned puppies have been rescued in North Carolina, thanks to a kind stranger. The stranger handed the puppies over to an animal shelter after finding them on the side of the road in a suitcase. The puppies are now ready to be rehomed, but it is still unclear who carried out the cruel crime and where the puppies came from. Three years ago, former US President Donald Trump signed a new animal cruelty law called The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT), making animal cruelty a federal crime.

Guildford County Animal Control Assistant Lisa Lee told Sky News: “The Good Samaritan was driving down the road and saw the suitcase on the side of the road.

“An old suitcase and they thought they saw it moving so they stopped, backed up and went over there and saw a nose sticking out of one of the corners.

“So straight away they knew it was a puppy of a kitten or something, so they went over there and unzipped the suitcase.

“There you go, I found these four puppies that were in the suitcase on the side of the road.”

It remains unclear who dumped the four puppies on the side of the road and left them in a suitcase.

But it is a crime under US law to treat animals with cruelty, and if found, the person could face arrest and prosecution.

In 2019, a new law called The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT) was passed, and it is now a federal crime.
