UN official: Egypt has repeatedly warned of the expansion of conflict in the region

The head of the International Human Rights Council delegation to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Haitham Abu Saeed, said that the recent escalation between Iran and Israel represents a great danger to international peace and security, so we must work seriously in order to avoid the expansion of the conflict, stressing that Egypt has repeatedly warned of the expansion of the conflict. Because it is aware of the nature of this conflict, its seriousness, and what things may lead to, starting from the roots and traditions of Arab and Islamic concepts together.

Abu Said added – in exclusive statements to the Middle East News Agency – that Egypt can play an important role in avoiding the expansion of the conflict in cooperation with… The League of Arab State and the Gulf Cooperation Council, by developing acceptable solutions to spare the entire region from a catastrophe that will have bad consequences for everyone without exception.

He pointed out that Egypt has a fundamental role in approaching the crises that are afflicting Palestine, and by which most of them are affected. The Arab countries are the result of geography and history together, explaining that there is permanent communication between the Egyptian leadership and all societal and political classes in Palestine, as Egypt is considered the incubator of the issue.

Abu Saeed continued, “Egypt has played an important role since the Israeli aggression.” On the 7th of October, based on the data and experiences it gained in the conflicts it waged against Israel, which gave it a great perspective in seeing what might happen in advance on the humanitarian, economic, and even political levels, it built an approach to managing this conflict and coming out with the least possible losses. However, The intransigence of the Israeli side brought the matter to this point.”

He noted that despite this, Egypt was able to thwart many of the plans that Israel intended to carry out with the Palestinian people by forcing them to leave their land, and Egypt confronted this matter. Strongly and calmly at the same time, and this was also a positive point for it at the international level, hence the high appreciation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Gutrich, and also the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, who visited the Rafah crossing and expressed expressions of appreciation and support for Egypt and its authorities.
