The Chinese Ministry of Defense has stated that Australian intelligence obstructed the conduct of People’s Liberation Army exercises.

Official spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Zhang Xiaogan, stated that Australian helicopters and a destroyer conducted reconnaissance in the area where the Chinese military exercises were taking place, also impeding the maneuvers of military personnel. According to TASS.

“From May 3 to 4, during the exercises of Chinese naval units in the waters of the Yellow Sea, the Australian missile destroyer Hobart sent naval helicopters three times to conduct direct reconnaissance and disrupt the routine training activities of Chinese military personnel,” Xiaogan said.

Previously, it was announced that China would conduct military exercises in the Yellow Sea from May 5 to 12. According to the ministry, the exercises will take place in the Bohai Strait, located in the northern part of the Yellow Sea, from 4:00 p.m. on May 5 to 4:00 p.m. on May 12, with entry into the exercise area prohibited during this period.

North Korea also conducted tactical exercises for a conditional nuclear counterattack, using 600-millimeter caliber multiple rocket launcher systems (MRLS).
