The US and Ukraine will conclude a security agreement for a period of 10 years

The United States will conclude a security agreement with Ukraine for a period of 10 years. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated this during a speech at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday, May 14.

According to the head of the State Department, the agreement will provide United States support for the defense and security of Ukraine in a range of areas – “from aviation to air defense, from drones to mine clearance.”

The agreement is similar to those that Kyiv has already concluded or is about to conclude with other friendly countries, but it will not include the deployment of American troops. In the event of an attack on Ukraine, Washington will cooperate with Kiev at the highest level to agree on how to counter the possible threat.

In addition, Blinken said that a security agreement between the two countries will help accelerate the development of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and will allow Ukraine to produce its own ammunition and artillery in the future.
