He added in television statements, today, Tuesday, that the port of Sokhna has an important peculiarity due to its proximity to Cairo and Suez and its connection to means of transportation and dry ports, commenting: “For the first time in Egypt and the Arab region, a high-speed train enters the port of Sokhna.”

The Minister explained that since he assumed the transport portfolio on March 11, 2019; It was necessary to prepare a comprehensive plan to improve transportation facilities, including sea ports, explaining: “In our plan, we focused on increasing the length of the berths in Sokhna Port, because it was only 35 kilometers, sufficient for exports and imports.”

The Minister of Transport continued: “The number of berths and their depths had to be increased to attract giant ships. One ship transports 24 thousand containers, approximately 134 thousand tons.
