How Paul Hogan’s troubled grandson has ‘lost his only lifeline’ – as he goes on the run after giving a bizarre address to authorities
Paul Hogan’s troubled grandson gave authorities a bizarre home address before going on the run from police, and has had a falling out with a loved one who served as his get out of jail card.
Jake Hogan, the drug addict grandson of the Crocodile Dundee star, failed to turn up in a Sydney court on fresh drug and crime charges last Friday, prompting a magistrate to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
The 33-year-old former tradie turned drug addict had been apprehended by police allegedly carrying a small quantity of meth and home-breaking implements about midnight on July 26 in the inner Sydney suburb of Glebe.
When he was taken to a city police station and charged, Hogan gave his home address as a GP’s doctor’s surgery in the inner-western suburb of Sydenham. Hogan was then granted bail.
But he did not appear at Sydney’s Downing Centre Court – where he had a high risk of returning to custody – when required last week.
It has been just three months since a tearful Jake was given a lifeline when his father made a mercy dash from New Zealand and volunteered to help him to rebuild his life.
Todd Hogan, one of the five children of comedy legend Paul and his first wife Pauline, flew in to support Jake while he served out a community sentence for breaking into apartment blocks to fuel his drug habit and breaching a restraining order.
But a well-placed source told Daily Mail Australia that Jake swiftly fell into disagreement with his dad and deserted the rehabilitation plan set in place by the court.

The arrival of Jake’s dad Todd Hogan in Australia (above with his sister Lana at court in May) convinced a magistrate to free Jake from prison, but it appears the former tradie fell out with his family shortly after his release
Deputy Chief Magistrate Sharon Freund had told Todd Hogan and Jake’s sister Lara at that last hearing in May that she was more inclined to release Jake from behind bars because of the family’s show of strength.

She said Todd Hogan’s agreement to come back and live in Australia while his son served a community-based order was ‘huge’.
‘This is a young man who needs some scaffolding. He totally has the opportunity to turn his life around,’ the magistrate said.
She ordered Jake to attend rehab and counselling and abstain from alcohol and drugs.
The magistrate gave him a stern warning that if he breached the conditions of his Intensive Corrections Order, he could go back into jail, ‘and nobody wants that’.
However it now seems likely he will go to jail given the current charges against him of possessing 1.5g of methamphetamine and possessing housebreaking implements.
It is unclear where Jake may have been living with his father on release, and whether Todd Hogan is still in Australia or may have subsequently returned to his family in New Zealand.
Todd was married to Jake’s mother Marie when Jake was still a teenager before an event which friends say deeply traumatised Jake. Marie suffered a ‘very sad’ decline leading up to her death from multiple sclerosis when Jake was aged 17 in 2006.

Upon Marie’s death, Paul Hogan made his own mercy dash from California – where he was living with second wife Linda Kozlowski and their young son, Chance – to attend his daughter-in-law’s funeral.
Todd eventually remarried, to registered nurse Jane, and Jake remained in Sydney and appeared to lead a normal life, beginning a relationship with a young mother called Racheal Young.
Jake had some substance abuse issues, but when his relationship broke down and his hopes of having his own family disappeared he ‘became seriously addicted to drugs that just completely took over his life’, Daily Mail Australia has previously reported.

Jake has been previously been convicted of several drug and break and enter charges and possession of implements, namely Trojan brand wire cutters, a black torch, Allen keys and an adjustable wrench.
Last Friday, after approving of the arrest warrant, Magistrate Clare Farnan told the court she had found the latest alleged offences ‘proven’ and that Hogan was due to return to court on August 28.
Hogan faces up to two years in prison for the offences.
