“Parties”: We have finished preparing our proposals regarding the file of converting support into cash to present them to the national dialogue
Head of the Tomorrow Party: Regulating the social security network is one of the most important mechanisms of social justice that we aim to achieve in the new republic
We demand that the numbers of those eligible for support be regulated so that we can double the amounts for those who are actually eligible and divide them into three categories
Head of the "Generation" Party: We will demand postponing the discussion of converting in-kind support to cash
We have finished preparing a paper on the file of converting in-kind support into cash, through which we demand the necessity of taking this issue seriously and not rushing
The party leaders agreed on the importance and seriousness of the file of converting support from in-kind to cash, and hence the necessity of setting stricter standards to control it, in addition to not rushing in light of the difficult economic conditions, and emphasizing the necessity of support reaching those who deserve it.
At the beginning, Engineer Moussa Mustafa Moussa, Chairman of the Ghad Party, stressed the importance of the file of transferring support in the next phase and its discussions through rounds of national dialogue, between officials, experts and representatives of political parties, noting that it is the most important and dangerous issue nationally.
Musa Mustafa Musa said, in special statements to "Rose Al-Youssef Gate": "We in the Tomorrow Party have often called for reviewing this file with the aim of setting stricter standards to control it and for this support to reach those who deserve it, who are the weakest and most needy groups in the country, especially in these difficult economic circumstances. It is not permissible for you to own a car, for example, and at the same time the state bears the costs of your support, and it is not permissible for you to be an employee in the government or the private sector and your salary exceeds the minimum wage and also be entitled to support in its two types, food and bread".
The head of the Ghad Party explained the importance of distinguishing between those who are below the minimum and those who are above the minimum. Those who are below the minimum deserve both types of food support and bread, while those who are above the minimum and up to 10 thousand pounds deserve bread support only, for example.
"Musa" added, saying: "We, as a party, demand that those eligible for support be divided into three categories: those eligible for food supplies only, those eligible for bread support only, and those eligible for both food support and bread together. The current system is inaccurate, unfair, and does not accurately distinguish between the needy and the most needy".
He also stressed that reviewing support with the aim of controlling it and reaching its actual beneficiaries is one of the difficult and important national tasks as well, and it is the basis that precedes the dialogue on converting support into cash or maintaining the current situation.
"Musa" demanded that the government provide all information and figures to the interlocutors, and the importance of providing the parties with all information in this regard so that they can participate objectively, rationally, effectively and meaningfully.
Musa Mustafa Musa, head of the Ghad Party, called on government officials to provide all information on the issue before it is put up for discussion in the national dialogue sessions, and for this issue to be the mechanism adopted in all issues raised and discussed in the dialogue sessions.
For his part, Nagi Al-Shahabi, head of the Democratic Generation Party, confirmed that his party has prepared a paper on the file of converting in-kind support to cash support, in which he explains the need to be patient in this issue and not rush into it, due to the sensitivity and importance of in-kind support for basic commodities, most notably bread, in the lives of millions of Egyptians, stressing the need to deal cautiously with this file that affects people’s lives and the stability of the country.
“Al-Shahabi said, ‘Discussing the conversion of support into cash will affect the lives of millions of Egyptian families, especially in light of the high inflation and the low purchasing power of the national currency, in addition to the high prices,’ stressing the need for the national dialogue to discuss this issue from all its aspects so that we do not encounter overwhelming popular rejection that we cannot confront.
He stressed his party’s demand to postpone the discussion of converting in-kind support to cash support at this dangerous stage that Egypt is going through, which is facing challenges that affect its national security, which requires maintaining the stability and security that the country is experiencing, which will not be achieved except by obtaining the people’s satisfaction.
He added that he will also demand, in the upcoming national dialogue sessions, that the government implement the president’s assignments, especially improving people’s living conditions, by limiting price increases or resisting inflation and limiting the greed and monopoly of merchants.
He pointed out the need for continuous supply campaigns in malls, to ensure that the government takes into account the measures taken by the state, in addition to the most powerful weapon that the government is supposed to resort to, which is to produce what we eat and wear, which is achieving self-sufficiency, which is the second assignment from the President to Dr. Madbouly, to care about industry, modernize and develop it, as well as care about agriculture and what we need from grains, so that we do not import them, specifically wheat, rice, and other legumes, and thus large dollar returns will be provided to the country, and thus inflation in the markets will decrease, and thus our production will suffice the requirements of Egyptians.
