Amr Kandil on an extensive inspection tour of medical facilities in Beheira
Dr. Amr Qandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, conducted an inspection tour of a number of health facilities in Beheira Governorate, in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, to intensify visits to facilities and follow up on health services, and monitor and treat any shortcomings in the level of services provided to citizens.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that Dr. Amr Qandil began his tour by visiting the Ibrahimia Family Medicine Center affiliated with the Itay El Baroud Administration, and during his visit he reviewed the workers’ commitment to the scheduled work hours, the medical team’s commitment to providing quality services to visitors, and the regularity of work in health initiatives. He also reviewed the availability of medicines, supplies and laboratory reagents, and recommended completing the provision of some medicines and activating family medicine files.
«Abdel Ghaffar» added The Deputy Minister praised the regularity of the vaccination system and infection control procedures at the Ibrahimia Family Medicine Center, and recommended following up on cases of children, pregnant women, and beneficiaries of health initiatives services who visit the unit. He also recommended disbursing incentive bonuses to distinguished members of the work team.
“Abdel Ghaffar” indicated that the Deputy Minister also inspected the Family Medicine Center in the village of Laqana, affiliated with the Shubrakhit Health Administration, and it was found that work was regular in the center and clinics, medicines and supplies were available, and the Presidential Health Initiatives team was committed to the milk distribution system, while the dental clinic chair was not working properly. The Director of the Health Administration and the Head of the Dental Department were assured that it would be repaired or an alternative chair provided within a maximum of one week, and he recommended training doctors responsible for child and mother care programs.
“Abdel Ghaffar” indicated The Deputy Minister was keen during the visit to listen to the opinions and complaints of some citizens, as the Director of the Health Affairs Directorate and the Director of the Administration were alerted to intensify supervision, follow-up and verify that the demands of the villagers were met, regarding the necessity of doctors’ commitment and presence during the evening period.
He continued that Dr. Amr Qandil completed his tour by visiting Nasser Medical Center in the Damanhour Health Administration, and verified the availability of emergency medicines and supplies, and the regularity of work in the family medicine, internal medicine, women’s, and physiotherapy clinics. He evaluated the medical team’s follow-up of children who did not receive vaccinations on their scheduled dates, and citizens who frequented health initiatives. He also confirmed the availability of all necessary detectors for health initiatives, and it was found that there were some devices that had been out of order for a long time. He recommended quickly taking the necessary measures to repair them within a maximum of a week. He also contacted citizens who received health services during the past period to ensure that they were followed up and received the results of their examinations.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health explained that the Deputy Minister concluded his tour by holding two meetings with hospital directors and directors of Health departments, and the supervisory team in each health department, in the presence of the Director of the Health Affairs Directorate in Beheira, Dr. Sayed Abdel Gawad, Dr. Rady Hammad, Head of the Preventive Medicine and Public Health Sector, Dr. Rasha Khader, Head of the Primary Care and Family Development Sector, heads of central departments, and general managers, where all the observations that were monitored during the visits of the central supervision teams were reviewed and discussed, from the sectors of preventive medicine, public health, primary care, and family development, with a total of 94 supervisors, over four days, targeting health departments, hospitals, a number of family medicine units, and medical centers in the governorate.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health continued, that the meetings resulted in a number of recommendations, the most important of which was improving infection control practices in all health facilities, and granting a one-month grace period to seven hospitals with a low rating to improve the level of performance and re-evaluate.
«Abdel Ghaffar» added that it was recommended to activate the surveillance of infectious diseases in all reporting sites and train medical teams to apply the definition of Reportable disease cases, and with regard to primary care facilities, it was recommended to raise the efficiency of all development units and pay attention to the general appearance of the unit and activate the specialist service by announcing the services available to citizens, removing the accumulated priests, redistributing unused devices, maintaining broken devices and implementing the correct procedures for dispensing milk, noting that the Deputy Minister recommended disbursing an incentive bonus to one of the members of the milk disbursement committees for her excellence in work performance, and he also recommended referring the supervisory teams in the departments (Kom Hamada and Al-Rahmaniya, Itay Al-Baroud, Al-Mahmoudia, and Edko) to investigation for weak supervision and follow-up, in addition to emphasizing the avoidance of all negatives and re-evaluation by the end of October, and he recommended disbursing an incentive bonus to the environmental health supervision team, environmental monitoring, food control and vaccinations in the directorate.
