Eid Abdel Hadi: Discussions "Criminal Procedures" Emphasizes transparency and keenness to promote the principle of prompt justice

Dr. Eid Abdel Hadi, head of the Central Committee for Small and Medium Enterprises of the Egyptian Freedom Party, said that completing the discussions of the draft Criminal Procedures Law, in an atmosphere characterized by transparency in presentation and treatment, and listening to all opinions and visions presented by specialists and experts, confirms the serious move towards issuing a new law that achieves effective criminal justice, and confirms that the human rights file will always remain surrounded by many legislations that contribute to strengthening the principles of citizenship and that every citizen has rights and duties within the framework of what is stipulated in the constitution and the law.

Abdel Hadi pointed out, in a statement, that the presence of the Bar Association President at the meeting of the Legislative Committee of the House of Representatives to review the Bar Association’s vision regarding the articles subject to objection in the draft now presented to the Legislative Committee for discussion and study, is a good opportunity to review more details in the draft law, and then the legislation gains new confidence, comprehensive consensus, and convergence of viewpoints, which ultimately serves the issuance of legislation that enhances the rule of law and guarantees the rights of defense.

Abdel Hadi confirmed that the draft Criminal Procedures Law contained many articles that achieve a breakthrough in the field of litigation and judicial procedures. In addition to amending all articles on pretrial detention, he pointed out that all these amendments achieve a new and positive path towards the political and legal scene in Egypt, and the new legislation will be able to respond to all the violations and fallacies spread by foreign human rights organizations regarding the Egyptian human rights file.

The head of the party’s Small Projects Committee added that the new amendments expand the inclusion of the use of technological developments in some legal texts for use inside courtrooms, such as the possibility of hearing witnesses remotely, presenting digital evidence, and conducting trials via video conference in certain cases, which contributes to accelerating the pace of trials and reducing overcrowding in many courts.
