Project conclusion "Promoting productive and decent work for women" In Egypt, Jordan and Palestine
The Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, the International Labor Organization office in Cairo, and the United Nations in Egypt, organized the closing ceremony of the project “Promoting Productive and Decent Work for Women in Egypt, Jordan and Palestine,” which has been ongoing for the past five years, with the aim of enhancing women’s employment opportunities and economically empowering them.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Labor: Rasha Abdel Basset, Head of the Central Administration for International Relations, and Omnia Abdel Hamid, Technical Assistant at the Office of the Minister of Labor. The celebration was also attended by: Marwa Alam El-Din, UN Women official in Egypt, Eric Oeschlan, Director of the International Labor Organization office in Egypt, Anna Rosendahl, Head of Regional Development Cooperation at the Swedish Embassy, and Dr. Naglaa El-Adly, Head of the Financial and Administrative Unit, and Supervisor of International Cooperation at the National Council for Women.
According to a press release today, Sunday, Minister of Labor Mohamed Gebran confirmed in the speech delivered on his behalf by Rasha Abdel Basset, Head of the Central Administration for International Relations, that the Egyptian state is paying attention to the issue of women’s empowerment Great interest through its ambitious work program, which included launching many national initiatives dedicated to empowering women in various fields, as women are a key partner in the sustainable development strategy, and this is reflected in the seventh strategic goal related to empowering women and providing equal opportunities in all fields, and this is implemented through sub-programs, government plans, and presidential initiatives, regarding the economic, political and social empowerment of women, and by enhancing their health, and protecting them from violence, and the Egyptian state is keen to integrate them into the labor market more effectively, whether by joining the labor market, or engaging in vocational training programs, entrepreneurship, and establishing small productive projects, which contributes to increasing their effective role in achieving the goals of sustainable development in line with "Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Empowering Women 2030..".
Amani Abdel Hamid, Technical Assistant at the Office of the Minister of Labor, shed light during a discussion session with experts in the field of gender, on the best practices and lessons learned from the joint program, and reviewed The project’s most important achievements include the launch of the National Plan to Promote Gender Equality in the Workplace, the issuance of the Gender Equality Inspection Guide, and the Code of Conduct for Eliminating Violence and Harassment in the Workplace, as well as the implementation of vocational training programs for approximately 650 women in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Beni Suef, and Sohag, in professions and handicrafts. The event concluded with the distribution of a set of tools to distinguished participants in vocational training to support them in starting their professional journey. An exhibition was also organized on the sidelines of the event to display the various products manufactured by the participants in the program… The closing ceremony was attended by Yasmine Mamdouh, Director General of the Training Planning Department at the Ministry of Labor, and a number of vocational training officials in the targeted governorates who are responsible for the training.
