Alaa Abed: Israeli Prime Minister’s statements aim to obstruct Egyptian and international mediation efforts

MP Alaa Abed, Head of the Transport and Communications Committee in the House of Representatives and Vice President of the Arab Parliament, denounced the Israeli Prime Minister’s attempts to drag Egypt’s name into the conflict with the aim of obstructing the Egyptian and international mediation efforts that are being made with sincerity and good intentions to reach a ceasefire deal, exchange hostages and detainees, and achieve stability in the region.

Abed said in a statement today that such misleading statements aim only to undermine the sincere efforts of mediating countries, such as Egypt, Qatar and the United States, which are working hard to achieve understandings that serve peace and security in the region.

The head of the Transport and Communications Committee in the House of Representatives stressed that Egypt has been and continues to play a decisive and responsible role in supporting peace and stability efforts in the Middle East, and will not allow any attempt to influence the course of these efforts or use its name to cover the internal political goals of another country.

He stressed Egypt’s rejection of all allegations made by Israeli officials in this regard, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the unjustified escalation and attempts to distort the facts.

"Abed" concluded by stressing Egypt’s commitment to its firm position in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people in their struggle for their legitimate rights, and its continued playing of its historical role as an honest and influential mediator in the region.

It is noteworthy that the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, Tuesday, its complete rejection of the statements made by the Israeli Prime Minister yesterday, Monday, through which he tried to drag Egypt’s name into distracting the attention of Israeli public opinion, obstructing the reaching of a deal for a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages and detainees, and obstructing the mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt, Qatar and the United States. Egypt also affirms its rejection of all allegations made by Israeli officials in this regard.
