Two Turkish newspapers: Sisi’s visit is a turning point towards a new chapter in relations between the two countries
Two Turkish newspapers highlighted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Turkey on Wednesday, describing it as an important step and a turning point that indicates the beginning of a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
… The visit is the first of its kind in 12 years, with discussions focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received President Sisi at Esenboga Airport in Ankara, and after an official reception ceremony, a meeting was held between the two leaders at the presidential palace.
The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet said that economic relations will form an important part of the agenda, with discussions focusing on increasing mutual investments and trade, with the goal of increasing the volume of trade between the two countries from the current $10 billion to $15 billion.
The newspaper reported that Sisi’s visit comes on the heels of Erdogan’s visit to Cairo last February, the first visit of its kind since 2012, when the two countries raised their relations to the level of “strategic cooperation”.
Last month, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Cairo and met With Sisi and his counterpart Badr Abdel Aati.
