After success in Thailand, Saab is looking to order 40 Gripen fighter jets from the Philippines, to compete with the US F-16 and the Korean KF-21.
Arab Defense Website September 5, 2024: Saab, which Thailand recently chose to modernize its air force with the Gripen fighter jet, is now turning its attention to another Southeast Asian country, the Philippines.
The Swedish company hopes to secure significant new sales as Manila seeks to boost its air fleet with 40 new fighter jets.
The Philippines is currently considering several options, including the F-16 made by US company Lockheed Martin and the KF-21 Boramae from South Korea’s KAI.
