Commuter chaos after a teen was found injured on the tracks of one of Sydney’s busiest train lines

Hundreds of commuters are facing long delays during peak hour after a boy was found injured on the train tracks in Sydney’s west. 

The 13-year-old boy was found on the railway tracks at Homebush station around 5.30pm on Thursday. 

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the boy was treated by paramedics before he was taken to hospital. 

It is understood the boy was found on the train tracks by police.

There were delays on the T1 North Shore and Western Line and buses have also been affected. 

The disruption also affected train services on the T2 Inner West and Leppington Line as well as the T3 Bankstown, T8 Airport and the T9 Northern Lines. 

Passengers were also warned to expect delays to services heading to the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Newcastle. 

Services were back up and running within the hour, however a police operation ongoing at the station. 

Commuters have been warned to expect disruptions across the Sydney train network due to the incident. 

Transport for NSW urged passengers to plan their trip in advance due the lengthy delays.

‘Passengers are still advised to allow extra travel time on some train services after a person was near the tracks between Homebush and Flemington earlier,’ they said in a statement. 

‘Passengers are advised to listen to announcements and check information displays as train stopping patterns may change, and some trains may be using different platforms.’ 

One train took around 50 minutes to reach Homebush from Central, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Earlier, some passengers on the T1 North Shore line said train services had been suspended until further notice. 

Some services heading towards Lidcombe on the T3 Bankstown line were cancelled.
