Homeland Protectors Abroad: The President’s Visit to Turkey Opens New Horizons for Cooperation

Engineer Alaa Ziad, Assistant Secretary-General of the Homeland Defenders Party for Egyptians Abroad Affairs, praised the visit of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to Turkey, which reflects the desire of both parties to enhance cooperation in many fields, most notably the economic one, to confront regional and international challenges. 

 

 

He said that the rapprochement between Egypt and Turkey achieves a balance in the Middle East region, most notably the Palestinian issue, as the continuation of the war in Gaza, tension on the Lebanese front, the possibility of escalation between Iran and Israel, the situation in the Horn of Africa, especially the tension between Somalia and Ethiopia, in addition to other international developments, especially the Russian-Ukrainian war, all of which affect international security and peace.

 

 

He pointed out that the relationship between Cairo and Ankara will target a new strategic partnership to achieve 3 main axes; They are peace, prosperity and development, as cooperation in the field of economy and development occupies the largest part of the path of relations between the two countries, as Egypt seeks to achieve development, and Turkey is ready to help in that. Egypt and Turkey want to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to 15 billion dollars.

 

 

Ziad explained that what we have seen of the signing of memoranda of understanding between Egypt and Ankara in many fields confirms the determination of the two countries to open new horizons for cooperation and that Cairo and Ankara are two great powers that should not be underestimated, and their agreement constitutes an important factor in achieving stability in the region.
