Kuwaiti newspapers highlight President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Turkey
Kuwaiti newspapers issued this morning, Thursday, highlighted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s emphasis during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the realization of the Palestinian people’s aspirations for an independent state.
In the Kuwaiti Al-Rai newspaper, under the title “The Sisi-Erdogan Summit… A Strategic Shift,” the newspaper explained that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed that Cairo is working to establish a new phase and a qualitative shift in relations between Egypt and Turkey, while President Recep Tayyip Erdogan considered that the two countries’ contributions to regional peace and stability constitute a vital matter, as 17 agreements were signed in various fields, and 36 articles were agreed upon.
The newspaper continued that the two leaders stressed their common position on the Palestinian issue, the main focus of the summit, which highlighted their firm position calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and an end to the Israeli aggression on the occupied West Bank.
The Kuwaiti Al-Anbaa newspaper reported under the title ” Sisi and Erdogan discussed in Ankara bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest" that with the improvement of relations and convergence of interests in many regional files, especially in the Mediterranean Basin and Africa, the two presidents showed agreement during a summit that brought them together in Ankara yesterday, on major files in the region, starting with the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and reaching Somalia, the arena of new tensions in the Horn of Africa.
The newspaper described President Sisi’s reception as warm in Ankara during his first visit to Turkey since assuming the presidency. The two presidents also held a series of talks that addressed aspects of joint cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues and the position on regional developments, especially the critical situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been witnessing continuous Israeli aggression for 11 months, and ways to end the crises in Syria, Libya and Sudan, reduce escalation in the Middle East in general, and achieve stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Horn of Africa in a way that preserves the security and territorial integrity of Somalia.
Under the title "Erdogan and Sisi chaired the first meeting of the Turkish-Egyptian Cooperation Council" The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Nahar said that President Sisi confirmed that Egypt and Turkey, two ancient countries, have deep-rooted historical and popular relations, and have strong political relations since the founding of the Turkish Republic. President Sisi added, “Perhaps my visit today, and before it President Erdogan’s visit to Cairo, reflect the common will to start a new phase of friendship and cooperation between Egypt and Turkey, based on their pivotal role in their regional and international environment.” Al-Jarida newspaper reported under the title “Agreement between Sisi and Erdogan… from Gaza to Somalia” During a joint press conference, Erdogan said that “Turkey and Egypt’s contributions to regional peace and stability are of great importance, and we agreed in our meetings to hold regular consultations to resolve regional issues, especially the Gaza issue,” noting that Turkey and Egypt have a common position on the need to “end the massacres and reach a ceasefire,” and that their contributions to regional peace and stability are vital. He announced his categorical rejection of the Israeli Prime Minister’s accusations against Egypt.
The newspaper continued that Erdogan stressed that Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies are putting the region and the entire world in danger, and that his supporters are responsible for the death of every innocent civilian in Gaza due to hunger, thirst and lack of medicine, noting that we cooperate with Egypt in all sectors, especially natural gas and nuclear energy, and we continue to strengthen relations.
