Workshop under the slogan "Green transformation to blue economy"

Under the slogan “Green Transformation for the Blue Economy,” a workshop will be held the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, to evaluate the wasted biomass of seaweed into sustainable products with added value.

 

 

Dr. Nour Shafiq Al-Jundi, Professor of Environmental Sciences at the Petroleum Research Institute and Chair of the workshop, confirmed that the organization of the workshop came in implementation of the objectives of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050 in terms of achieving sustainable economic growth, reducing emissions in various sectors, and sustainable development goals.

Al-Jundi added that the workshop comes in line with the Egyptian State Strategy 2030 and the objectives of the National Council for Climate Change in terms of increasing knowledge and applied scientific research related to climate change.

She indicated that the workshop will review the outputs of the research project funded by the Science and Technology Funding Authority, which is concerned with employing  Large marine algae and artificial intelligence for green synthesis of value-added products, for a clean and sustainable environment.

The workshop is held under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and is organized by the Petroleum Research Institute, headed by Dr. Mahmoud Ramzy, in cooperation with the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, headed by Dr. Walaa Sheta.

A group of distinguished professors and researchers in this field will participate in the workshop activities to discuss the challenges and opportunities available and make recommendations for decision-makers for a sustainable transition from the brown economy to the low-carbon green economy, linking the blue and green economy, and achieving its goals towards a clean and sustainable environment, which is imperative to save the planet.
