The Minister of Health directs coordination between the initiative "A new beginning for human development" Young Leaders Foundation
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with Representative Ahmed Fathy, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Young Leaders Foundation (YLF) and his accompanying delegation, to discuss joint cooperation in many areas of rehabilitation and training.
The Deputy Prime Minister began the meeting by welcoming the delegation of the Young Leaders Foundation, praising the effective role of civil society in cooperation with government institutions, within the framework of solidarity between all state institutions, and in support of the human development file, and building the human being, which comes at the forefront of the priorities of the political leadership, and in achievement of Egypt’s vision for sustainable development 2030.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the meeting reviewed The Foundation’s training and awareness programs, including (Climate Leaders Program, Banan Program, and Engineering Leaders Program), in addition to what has been accomplished during the past period and future plans, which aim to build and develop youth skills, in line with local and global requirements, and empower youth by providing material and moral support, and raising awareness about various issues that serve society, in addition to developing creativity and innovation among youth in various fields. «Abdel Ghaffar» pointed out that the Minister confirmed providing all means of support for programs and activities that aim to build the individual’s personal capabilities and skills, as the «Leaders Program» was reviewed. Which aims to create a database for young leaders, and use international assessment tools, which ensures the selection of the best young talents from students of all universities and institutes of the Republic, and the development of skills and competencies, in addition to personal guidance, building a supportive network, enhancing employment opportunities and creating leadership cadres, by providing training and professional opportunities that enhance individuals’ readiness for the competitive labor market, and empowering youth to establish and manage their start-up companies, which enhances innovation and economic development.
«Abdel Ghaffar» added that the meeting reviewed the technical education program for female students, «She Leads», which is considered the first program in Egypt to support female technical education students, which aims to raise a generation of female entrepreneurs, through the program’s endeavor to adopt innovative project ideas that serve the community and provide a source of profit for female students in the future, as well as developing girls’ skills through an integrated training curriculum that works to transform their ideas into projects based on the ground, noting that This program targeted 8,750 female students in the governorates of (Cairo, Beni Suef, Minya, Alexandria, Menoufia, Ismailia, Suez, Fayoum, Qalyubia, and Giza), with a total of 54 projects.
The official spokesperson for the ministry added that these programs aim to enhance Egyptian leadership in various disciplines, achieve equality in rights and opportunities, empower women and youth, and the most needy groups, in addition to developing the basic skills of individuals in 6 main fields (medicine and public health, social solidarity and human development, technology and innovation, manufacturing and design, environment and green technology, simulation models).
For his part, Representative Ahmed Fathy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Young Leaders Foundation (YLF), thanked Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, for his continuous support for the various programs of the Young Leaders Foundation since 2018 in the file of human development and empowerment. Youth in schools and universities, praising the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister, regarding coordination with the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development” and the programs of the Young Leaders Foundation YLF, stressing the launch of the “Egyptian Student Development” initiative in line with the Egyptian state’s direction in developing the Egyptian citizen in various fields.
At the end of the meeting, Representative Ahmed Fathy invited Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to attend the closing ceremony of the “Student Activities Leaders” competition, which is the largest platform to support and empower young student activities in Egyptian universities, and is in line with the goals of sustainable development and the vision of “Egypt 2030”, praising Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar’s support for the program since the launch of the first edition in 2019.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, and from the side of the Young Leaders Foundation, Rana Abu Ghazia, Executive Director, Osama Hesham, Advisor to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Safaa Hosni and Dr. Ahmed Hossam, Program Directors.
