Tomorrow, Monday, the first-stage placement tests for students in the Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Ornamentation Hall will start in the external branches in the governorates of Gharbia, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, Qena and Assiut, with approximately 3,260 students participating in these tests.

In a previous context, Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of Scientific Activities of the Al-Azhar Hall at Al-Azhar Mosque, stated that these tests come within the framework of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s keenness to promote the arts of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic ornamentation, which is considered an integral part of the Islamic cultural heritage. These tests have been prepared to be comprehensive, covering all skills from the basics to advanced writing techniques.

Dr. Hani Odeh, Director General of Al-Azhar Mosque, said that Arabic calligraphy is considered a fine art, and is used in writing the Holy Quran and literary texts. Al-Azhar Al-Sharif seeks, through the Arabic Calligraphy Hall, to preserve this art and present it to new generations, which contributes to strengthening the cultural identity of the Islamic nation. He continued: These tests are an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and creativity, noting that many students expressed their enthusiasm for this moment, stressing the importance of Arabic calligraphy in their lives.
