Under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, groups of students from technological universities across the country will begin arriving tomorrow to the Youth City in Abu Qir in Alexandria Governorate to participate in the first edition of the “Technological Universities Youth Week.” The activities will be held from Tuesday 17 to Friday 21 September, with the participation of 600 students from 10 technological universities, and about a thousand visitors from technological education experts and industrialists.
The first youth week for students of technological universities is scheduled to witness a group of state officials, presidents of technological universities, deans of colleges, industrialists and businessmen, and companies closely related to various fields of technological education.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Technological Universities and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Technological Education, said that the week’s activities aim to enhance communication between students, to exchange technological knowledge and expertise, support the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, build leadership, develop social skills among participants, and provide training and employment opportunities for students and graduates of technological universities.
He pointed out that these activities are a distinguished opportunity to achieve support and communication between students and industry partners, including Students gain many experiences and skills, and bring together young researchers and innovators, to invest their efforts in dialogue and effective student activity, and to invest their energies, promising ambitions and constructive ideas, to develop their capabilities in a positive way. And achieving the goals of technological universities in involving industry in qualifying technological university students for the needs and requirements of the labor market, within the framework of working to achieve the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, and meeting the needs of the labor market.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh noted that the student forum will be full of various activities covering various aspects of university life (sports, artistic, cultural and scientific activities), in addition to a major competition between innovative student projects from all participating universities, as well as organizing an exhibition for companies specialized in technological education, to display scientific and practical equipment and information technology and support innovation and entrepreneurship, and provide training and employment opportunities that contribute to qualifying students for the needs and requirements of the labor market.
It is scheduled to honor the top students in technological universities and distinguished students in student activities during the activities of the Technological Universities Youth Week to motivate them to continue their excellence and distinction.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Watani, head of the coordinating committee for the student week, indicated that A large number of meetings and workshops will be held in addition to competitions in various student activities, in which about 270 student teams and 40 innovative projects will compete, in addition to holding a competition between 30 student teams in robot shows.
Dr. Mohamed Watani pointed out that the first day of the events will include a general lecture for students on the importance of psychological support and its relationship to development in the fields of technological education, as well as an open dialogue between student delegations, members of the organizing committee and university presidents, while the second day will witness an intellectual forum in the morning and a workshop in the evening entitled "The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Development of Technological Education Towards a New Era of Education and Innovation", as well as a workshop on entrepreneurship and the role of these fields in shaping the future of university youth in general and technology in particular.
The second day of the week will also witness a workshop on ways to obtain the best job opportunities using artificial intelligence, in addition to a workshop that brings together student delegations with a large number of representatives of closely related companies. In the fields of technological education.
The head of the week’s coordinating committee confirmed the continuation of workshops and dialogue meetings until the end of the week’s activities, noting that the third day will witness another intellectual forum and open dialogue between students and faculty members, and a number of intellectuals and industrialists, in addition to a workshop on start-up companies and mechanisms for students to benefit from banking services to establish these companies, while the last day will witness a series of workshops on professional qualification for youth, and the relationship between student activities in developing students’ skills and raising their academic and scientific capabilities, as well as a workshop on centers of excellence that are Egypt’s gateway to green energy.
In the same context, Dr. Farag Ragab, coordinator of the Technological Universities Youth Week, indicated that at the end of the week, the results of the sports, artistic, cultural and social competitions will be announced, as well as the results of the scientific competition evaluations, graduation projects, and the announcement of the launch of the first advisory council of its kind in the Middle East in the fields of technological education consulting.
