Counselor Hussein Abu Al-Atta, head of the “Egyptians” Party and member of the Executive Office of the Egyptian Parties Alliance, valued the statement of the Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue, in which he confirmed that he is following up with great care and attention the course of the recommendations that he approved and submitted to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, regarding the file of pretrial detention, which he referred to the House of Representatives through the government.
“Abu Al-Atta” said in a statement today, Sunday, that the National Dialogue succeeded in addressing the file of pretrial detention and what is being raised about the draft Criminal Procedures Law by raising the slogan “Disagreement does not spoil the cause of the homeland,” explaining that the Board of Trustees of the Dialogue’s direction of thanks to President El-Sisi regarding what was addressed from the recommendations of the dialogue in the draft law in the House of Representatives certainly indicates the good follow-up to implement its recommendations while showing complete flexibility to reformulate its recommendations without compromising the content until the full vision is reached. The head of the “Egyptians” party added that the most prominent feature of the national dialogue sessions is that they are characterized by diversity, multiplicity and specialization, which enriches the sessions and dialogue and contributes to coming up with important recommendations, visions and applicable outcomes, explaining that there is great interest from the political leadership represented by President Sisi and the government in the recommendations and outcomes of the national dialogue, and President Sisi is keen to direct the government to implement the recommendations and outcomes. He explained that placing the issue of pretrial detention at the top of the priorities of the national dialogue is an important and serious step towards promoting human rights, in addition to supporting the development of the justice system by providing a fair and prompt trial that preserves the rights of citizens without infringing on their freedom, noting that pretrial detention is stipulated in international legislation with the aim of not influencing witnesses or fearing escape or tampering with evidence, but this must be accompanied by restrictions that prevent any party from encroaching or exploiting it.
