president "health care" Discusses with the International Hospital Federation enhancing the use of modern technology

 Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Health Insurance Project, said that developing the health system in Egypt is based on cooperation and partnership with leading global health institutions, stressing the importance of expanding the horizons of international cooperation to achieve more progress in the health services provided, noting that through this partnership "we seek to raise the level of efficiency and effectiveness in managing our hospitals, and provide the best health services to citizens and all clients according to the highest international standards".

 

This came during a meeting between Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky and Ronald Lavatar, CEO of the International Hospital Federation, on the sidelines of his participation in the 47th World Forum of the International Hospital Federation (IHF 2024), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; To discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the General Authority for Health Care and the International Hospital Federation in the areas of developing treatment services in the Authority’s hospitals, transferring advanced expertise in hospital management, in addition to training managers on the latest management and operation methods to ensure the provision of highly efficient services.

 

The meeting also discussed – according to a statement by the Authority, today, Monday – ways to enhance the use of modern technology and artificial intelligence in the field of health care, in addition to cooperation with the Geneva Center for Sustainability in Switzerland to support sustainability initiatives in health care.

Dr. El-Sobky added – during the meeting – “We are working to exploit the enormous potential provided by digital transformation and artificial intelligence to improve the provision of health care. These technologies represent the future, and we are working with our international partners to integrate them more widely into our health system, with the aim of improving the quality of care and increasing operational efficiency.”

He pointed out that this meeting comes within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve comprehensive health coverage, and that Egypt is keen to benefit from successful international experiences in hospital management and operation. He also stressed that such meetings enhance Egypt’s position as a leading destination in the field of developing health systems and achieving integration between the public and private sectors.

For his part, Ronald Lavatar, CEO of the International Hospital Federation, stressed that the International Hospital Federation takes upon itself the responsibility of supporting cooperation between health systems around the world, and “we see Egypt, represented by the Health Care Authority, as a strategic partner in this field. We believe that exchanging knowledge and expertise will contribute to improving health care systems at a global level, and we commend the efforts made by the General Health Care Authority in Egypt to achieve this goal.”

Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky also met with Dr. Francisco Mourato, President of the Federal Federation of Brazilian Hospitals, where they discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding to exchange expertise between hospitals in Egypt and Brazil, and activating a program to exchange doctors’ visits between the two countries, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in developing health systems and improving treatment services in both countries. Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky stressed that developing partnerships with Brazilian hospitals will contribute to achieving integration in the health care system in Egypt. “We see these partnerships as an opportunity to exchange expertise and innovations that enhance hospitals’ ability to develop, innovate and provide better health services to citizens,” he said.

Dr. El-Sobky explained that exchanging doctors’ visits and joint training programs between Egypt and Brazil will greatly contribute to raising the efficiency of medical staff in the Authority’s hospitals, which will positively reflect on the level of care provided in the Authority’s hospitals in the governorates implementing the comprehensive health insurance system.

For his part, Dr. Francisco Murato, President of the Federal Federation of Brazilian Hospitals, stressed that “Brazil and Egypt share a common vision for developing health systems, and that partnerships between health institutions in the two countries will contribute to providing innovative solutions to enhance the quality of health care.” “We welcome the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and look forward to building strong and sustainable relationships between our hospitals and the hospitals of the General Authority for Healthcare in Egypt,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of this international cooperation and knowledge exchange, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky said, “Our participation in the 47th World Hospital Forum of the International Hospital Federation embodies our deep commitment to developing healthcare systems and enhancing international cooperation. We are confident that strategic partnerships and the exchange of knowledge and expertise will contribute to achieving our goals towards achieving universal health coverage and improving the quality of healthcare in Egypt.”

He added that “Egypt’s Vision 2030 aims to build an innovative and sustainable healthcare system that meets the needs of the future.
