How good is your colour perception? Take the test to see how well you can match different shades
It’s something that most of us learn as toddlers.
But a new test will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about colours.
As the name suggests, The Colour Matching Game tasks you with matching different shades.
While this might sound straightforward, in practice, it’s surprisingly difficult.
So, how good is your colour perception?
It’s something that most of us learn as toddlers. But a new test will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about colours
The test is the brainchild of Colorlite Lens, a company that develops color vision enhancement lenses to correct color vision deficiency and color blindness.
During each round, you’ll see two coloured rectangles on your screen, which you must attempt to match.
Simply use the slider beneath the rectangles to adjust the colour of the rectangle on the right.
Once you think the two rectangles are the same colour, click the button titled ‘Get the next colour!’
In the first round of the Easy level, you’ll be tasked with adjusting a bright pink rectangle to match a dark blue rectangle
By the first round of the Hard level, the two rectangles will both be very similar shades of the same dark brown
A box at the top of the screen will then reveal how you got on.
It will tell you the target hue value, the matched colour, and the difference between the two.
If your colour perception is poor, the difference between the two will be high, while those with a sharp eye might even be able to achieve a perfect score of zero!
There are three levels to the game – easy, medium, and hard.
‘7 colors must be matched to complete a level! (red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, blue and purple),’ Colorlite explained.
A box at the top of the screen will appear to reveal how you got on. It will tell you the target hue value, the matched colour, and the difference between the two
‘To get to the next level the average difference should be less than 8!’
As you probably guessed, the colours become more and more difficult to match as your progress through the game.
For example, in the first round of the Easy level, you’ll be tasked with adjusting a bright pink rectangle to match a dark blue rectangle.
But by the first round of the Hard level, the two rectangles will both be very similar shades of the same blue-black – making it very tricky to distinguish between them.
