Egyptian candidate for the position of General Manager "UNESCO" He visits Argentina to present his vision for heading the organization
Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, professor of Egyptology, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and candidate of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the elections scheduled for November 2025, visited the Republic of Argentina.
This came during a tour undertaken by the Egyptian candidate in a number of Latin American countries that are members of the Executive Council of UNESCO, in order to present his vision for the presidency of the organization, and to become closely acquainted with the interests and priorities of the Argentine side in this regard. The visit included meetings with the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister for International Relations, the Ministers of State for Education and Culture, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in addition to a meeting with the ambassadors of Arab countries to Argentina.
Dr. Al-Anani also gave a lecture on antiquities and museums. Egyptian at the Argentine Council for International Relations, in the presence of more than a hundred people from leaders of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign diplomatic corps accredited in Buenos Aires, Egyptologists, specialized university professors, and directors of major museums.
He visited a number of major museums, most notably the National Museum of La Plata. Which contains collectibles from the Temple of Ramesses II in the Aksha region of Nubia, in connection with the activity of the Argentine archaeological mission that worked within the UNESCO project to protect the antiquities of Nubia from drowning in the early 1960s. He also visited the two cultural heritage sites inscribed on the World Heritage List in the city of Buenos Aires and its surroundings.
