Top footy coach is charged with a serious crime after police allegedly made a disturbing find in his hotel room after Mad Monday party

A footy coach will appear in court later this month after 10 bags of cocaine were allegedly found in his Sydney hotel room when it was searched by police earlier this week.

Police responded to reports of an alleged drug transaction at a licensed venue on Pyrmont St in the inner-city just after 3am on Monday.

Officers spoke to a 35-year-old at the scene before conducting a search of his hotel room, according to a statement from NSW Police.

Once inside, police allegedly located 10 bags believed to contain cocaine as well as $3400 in cash.

The man, from Bonnyrigg Heights, was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station.

‘He was charged with supply prohibited drug (more than indictable and less than commercial quantity), and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime,’ a NSW Police spokesperson said.

‘He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 30 October 2024.’

It is understood the man is a coach with a well-known team in the NSWRL competition, but does not work for an NRL club.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the NSWRL for comment.

More to come.
