The spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, Mohamed Al-Qarsh, confirmed that the state has made great efforts over the past years and huge projects into which large investments have been pumped, which have had a positive impact on Egyptian cotton cultivation. This led to the expansion of its marketing and its achievement of global leadership.

 

A spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture said – in an intervention with the “8 Subh” program: On “DMC” channel, today, Monday – “Egyptian cotton has the leadership; Because it is long-staple and super-tall, we have always worked to preserve the Egyptian cotton genes, and we were constantly keen to develop those genes and develop some high-yielding varieties such as Giza 96 and Giza 97.

 

He stressed the importance of obtaining the Best Cotton Certificate, which is an international certificate that proves that not only the genetic makeup of Egyptian cotton is of high quality, but that the transactions carried out on all cotton are the best, which gives greater opportunities for global marketing of Egyptian cotton.

He pointed out that the giant projects adopted by the state – over the past years – provide land areas that allow it to expand into more crops, as major projects and land expansion cost the state about one trillion pounds, and this is the way in which It supports the state of farmers to expand into various crops.

 

With regard to the state’s efforts for farmers, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture explained that new varieties of cotton are being provided and seeds are being provided through associations for easy access by farmers. At reasonable prices, ensuring the highest efficiency and highest possible quality, and developing a class map for growing crops in the best region in order to give higher productivity, which helps in the process of maximizing farmers’ productivity and reducing any risks they are exposed to.

 

He continued that the state began to expand by establishing and developing gins and spinning and weaving factories, into which large investments were pumped, which has a direct impact on Egyptian cotton, because cotton is considered a primary product for other complementary industries. A new marketing system was also adopted, which is the bidding system to ensure The best possible price that the farmer can get to improve his income, in addition to the contract farming system in which the state sets a guide price for the farmer to guarantee his right even in the event of low prices.

 

He pointed out that there are industries Many exist around cottons; Therefore, more than 320 thousand acres are cultivated in various areas with cotton, and a large number of ginneries in Fayoum and factories in Mahalla were developed, which gave the opportunity for companies specialized in better marketing and led to the export of textiles, ready-made clothing, and some cotton.
