Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have donated $1 million to relief efforts for Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which continue to wreak havoc on states including Florida and North Carolina.
“We thank Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for donating $1 million to our disaster relief fund for Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Their longtime support of Feeding America in times of crisis has helped our network on the ground before, during and after disasters. These funds will help food banks provide basic needs like water, ready to eat food and supplies to communities facing heartbreaking loss and a long recovery,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, in a statement.
At least seven people have died in Florida due to Hurricane Milton, the New York Times reported, while the devastating Hurricane Helene death toll has risen to more than 227 people. Hurricane Milton has now moved across Florida toward the Bahamas after causing massive flooding and tearing the roof off Tampa’s Tropicana Field stadium, where rescue workers were being housed.
Last October, at the beginning of the Israel-Hamas War, the “It Ends With Us” star Lively and her husband, “Deadpool” star Reynolds donated $1 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross on behalf of the children of Israel and Palestine. They were also among several celebrities donating to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation during the actors strike.
The couple also donated $1 million, split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, during the Covid pandemic, and have contributed to other causes including safe water charity Water First Education & Training and to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees after Russia invaded Ukraine.
