Footy legend Matthew Richardson is caught in a very embarrassing security camera video taken at his home

AFL great Matthew Richardson has sent footy fans into hysterics by sharing hilarious footage of him falling into his backyard pool while he was doing a spot of housework recently.

The Richmond icon posted the vision from his home security camera to Instagram along with the caption, ‘How’s your day going? Mine’s grouse thanks for asking’ accompanied by a facepalm emoji.

Richardson is seen walking around the pool in the footage, scooping leaves out of the water with a net before he loses his footing as a turns a corner and ends up in the drink.

The embarrassing incident was a hit with footy fans, who left dozens of cry-laughing emojis in their responses.

‘Mate! That’s the best!!’ one wrote.

‘Don’t know what’s funnier. Falling into the pool or the use of that awesome word “grouse”…. not used enough these days,’ another said.

Other comments included ‘Definitely a push in the back there’, ‘I’m watching on repeat’, ‘Ahhh Richy made my day’, and ‘Hope you had a nice trip? See you next fall’.

Richardson gave his followers something else to laugh about when he posted the footage to X with the caption, ‘I’ve made a few changers in my time but this is close to the best,’ with the Channel Seven commentator misspelling ‘clangers’.

‘You made a clanger posting about your clanger,’ one pointed out.

‘Pretty special to also make a clanger in spelling clangers … that’s a gift,’ another added.

Several commenters also compared the incident to Aussie cricket star Alex Carey falling into a pool at the team’s hotel in Pakistan during a tour in 2022.

Footage of Richardson enjoying some time off also brought the Tigers legend a bit of grief earlier this year when he was roasted over his lack of golfing talent.

Two-time Majors champion and former world No.2 Bubba Watson was in Adelaide for an LIV Golf event when he was invited to review Richardson’s golf swing.

Presented with a video of Richardson missing the ball on a drive attempt, Watson was asked for any tips to improve Richardson’s technique.

‘Oh wow,’ Watson replies.

‘Where did he go wrong?’ Channel Seven host James Brayshaw asked.

‘He missed the ball, that’s first and foremost,’ the 45-year-old American replied.

‘But man does he look athletic when he sets up to it though.’

‘The set up’s good, Bubba,’ Richo is heard saying in the background with a huge smile on his face.

‘The set up was there,’ Watson agreed. ‘It looked like the ball was going to go for miles.

‘And then it went nowhere.’

Back in March, ‘Richo’ clashed with his new Seven colleague Kane Cornes over what was supposed to be a light-hearted sledge directed at Richmond premiership-winner Trent Cotchin.

Cornes poked fun at Cotchin’s appearance and delivery in a segment on rival network Nine’s Sunday Footy Show, using a monotone delivery intended to mimic the former Richmond skipper.

Richardson was not amused and also upbraided Cornes for having a go at Geelong great turned new Seven analyst Joel Selwood.

‘Taking the piss out of 2 AFL premiership captains. Bar getting lower and lower,’ Richardson posted on social media.
