Shooting outside Walmart injures one after massacre at another store

At least one person was injured in a shooting outside a Walmart auto center in Georgia.

Police officers responded to a report of an active gunman at the chain’s Chastain Meadows Parkway location in Marietta.

“Shortly after arriving, it was determined that the shooting took place between two separate groups, in the outlying area of ​​the Walmart auto center,” said Cobb County Police Deputy Chief Benjamin Cohen.

The person shot was transported in a private vehicle to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, according to Cohen.

The shooting took place two weeks after a overnight manager at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, opened fire on the store, killing six people.

No other injuries were immediately confirmed in Cobb County. Law enforcement initially reported that there were multiple casualties. Officers on the scene quickly said there was no longer any danger to the public.

“It was two groups that knew each other,” Cohen said. “They had an altercation… There is no danger to the public.”

Police detained several people for questioning, but no arrest had been made by Wednesday evening. They did not disclose how many people they detained.

There was no shooting at the Walmart, police said, but the Walmart was evacuated.

Walmart spokesperson Ashley Nolan said, “We are aware of the situation and are working closely with local law enforcement,” Walmart said. CNN.

A Walmart customer, Gail Parks, said a man started running across the score shouting, “Active shooter! Active shooter’.

“And people started scattering everywhere, dropping stuff and running out of the store,” Parks said WSB TV.

Another customer, Melody Hippos, said ‘it was chaotic and you could tell people were panicking’.

Jesse Phillips, a Dollar Tree employee in the same plaza, said Walmart employees entered his store.

“You couldn’t even get into the parking lot, there were so many cop cars and stuff, SWAT and ambulances, firefighters and things like that,” Phillips told the TV station.

The Walmart was scheduled to remain closed Wednesday night and police patrolled the area.
