Moment Joe Biden’s non-binary energy secretary ‘stole’ a $320 Away-brand briefcase

Security footage captured the moment when President Biden’s nonbinary energy secretary appeared to snatch a briefcase from the airport in Las Vegas this summer.

According to an arrest warrant, the expensive suitcase of the Away brand was full of jewelry, makeup and clothing worth $ 3,670 obtained by 8 News Now Researchers.

Sam Brinton, 35, who is non-binary and uses the pronoun “she,” is also accused of stealing a suitcase from a Minneapolis airport. Yet the Department of Energy refuses to fire them.

Brinton is being charged over the incidents at both the Las Vegas and Minneapolis airports and is due to appear in Minnesota court on December 19.

According to the arrest report, a woman who had traveled from Dulles International Airport to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on July 6 filed a police report when she could not find her suitcase and after checking with the airline.

The stolen briefcase was described in the report as a gray “Away” brand “Bigger Carry-On” hard shell model worth $320.

The woman told police her suitcase had a total value of more than $3,670, and contained jewelry, makeup, contact lenses and clothing, according to the report.

When a Las Vegas police officer viewed the surveillance video, the officer noticed “several nonverbal cues or abnormalities in the suspect’s body language, which caught his attention,” the report said.

“To be precise, Brinton took the victim’s luggage off the carousel and looked at the label. Then place it back on the carousel and look in all directions for anyone who might be watching or approaching. Pulling it off the carousel again and displaying the same behavior by looking around before quickly walking away with it.”

A suspect was not identified until a November police officer saw a news article that named Sam Brinton as a suspect in a September baggage theft at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, 8 News Now reported.

The criminal charge of the Minneapolis incident details how Brinton traveled from Washington DC to Minneapolis without a checked bag, but then retrieved one from the baggage carousel once they landed in Minnesota.

Surveillance footage from the airport – which has yet to be released – would show them unpacking the baggage tug and placing it in their handbag.

When the police called them the first time, they played dumb. They then called the authorities themselves and admitted that they took the bag, but insisted it was a mistake and they were just tired.

Photos in the Minneapolis news reports matched the Las Vegas luggage theft suspect, according to the warrant filed this week.

The warrant revealed that Brinton had posted on Instagram on July 6, the same day of the theft.

“Thanks to @americannuclear for selling me such a great shirt for me to wear on my flight today,” the post read. ‘My professional association continues to grow and learn and I am proud of that. God how we have changed since my service as president of the chapter and then on the National Board of Directors. #NuclearPride.’

Brinton faces charges in both incidents and is due to appear in Minnesota court on the first charges, which relate to an incident in September when they were on their way to a conference.

There are growing calls among Republicans to fire Brinton – who enjoys a degree of nuclear approval because of their role.

However, the Department of Energy refuses to fire the official, despite him being charged with a second luggage theft at the airport.

If these latest allegations are true, Sam Brinton’s misconduct and severe lack of judgment are worse than we thought — signaling a pattern of criminal behavior that disqualifies him from representing the Department of Energy and influencing policy.

“In general, as the Department has previously stated, if a DOE Approval Holder is charged with a crime, the case would be immediately considered by DOE Personnel Security Officers, and depending on the circumstances, that review could lead to the suspension or revocation of the approval. .’

The White House has repeatedly declined to comment on the scandal, claiming it is a non-political issue.

The Department of Energy has also tried to distance Biden from the issue.
