North Macedonia today takes over the chairmanship of the OSCE: The new chairman is Bujar Osmani

Today, North Macedonia takes over the annual presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
“It is a great responsibility and honor to assume the chairmanship of the OSCE in 2023. Our goal will be to focus on the very principles of the Helsinki Final Act, in the interests and needs of the people,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia and the new chairman of the OSCE and Bujar Osmani.
Osmani said that the OSCE’s plan is to provide assistance to the population affected by the conflict, but also to others who need it, because the task of the organization is to alleviate crises and support peace. He pointed out that Ukraine will remain a priority and a key security issue, because the war in that country has undermined European security and threatens the peace and stability of the continent and beyond, the OSCE said.
Preservation of the values of the OSCE and respect for international law must be a common priority, Osmani pointed out. According to him, the work will also focus on supporting sustainable economic growth and cooperation in the field of the environment.
Osmani will be officially inaugurated as the chairman and present the priorities of North Macedonia during the chairmanship at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on January 12.
