“A day to remember, a day of joy and pride for the Croatian people”
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived today at the Bregana border crossing between Croatia and Slovenia, where she was welcomed by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar.
Von der Leyen expressed her satisfaction with her arrival in Bregana and pointed out that January 1 is the day of new beginnings.
Von der Leyen said that Croatia, as the youngest member of the EU, managed to enter the Schengen area and the eurozone on the same day.

She said that today is “a day to remember, a day of joy and pride for the Croatian people”.
“This is a celebration for all citizens of Europe. We pass through European borders without controls, there are no more passport controls, no more queues,” said the president of the European Commission, Croatian media reported.
