For travelling and for ultimate relaxation, you just can’t beat the experience of shutting out the world around you and losing yourself in the music of your choice.
Noise-cancelling headphones allow us to eliminate disturbances and noise that doesn’t concern us and control our own environment. But they do vary greatly in price with some models costing $250 and up and then the JBL Tune 760 NC coming in at less than $100 in some colors.
While spending less money is always more appealing, its not worth it if you’re compromising on sound quality. So do you always get what you pay for when it comes to sound quality or are the JBL Tune 760 NC over-ear headphones just as good as similar but more expensive options by Beats, Apple, Sony and Bose? DailyMail.com put the 760s to the test.
With a cushion under the headband, thick ear pads and a sleek design, these JBL Tune 760 NC headphones are a joy straight out of the box.
Power them on and benefit from deep, punchy bass and impressive quality on high notes too.
The battery lasts an impressive 35 hours without needing a charge!
How we tested
We tested the JBL Tune 760 NC headphones in a variety of noisy environments to see whether we could hear any background over the music. We tried them on a train, in the passenger seat of a car, in the playroom while kids were watching TV and at a shopping mall. We also wore them for an extended period of time while working in the office to see how comfortable they were for prolonged use and to test their capability for making and receiving calls.
How do the headphones look and feel?

The JBL Tune 760 NC headphones feature thick comfortable ear pads and a cushion at the top of the headband
Straight out of the box, you can see the headphones have a durable and sturdy head band with added cushioning at the top to provide comfort to the crown of your head – an unexpected but lovely touch.
The ear pads are super plush with a couple of inches of cushioning. They have a sleek, minimalist design that looks a lot more expensive than $100. In fact, if it wasn’t for the JBL on the sides of the ear, we wouldn’t have been able to pick out many differences at first sight between these and Beats. Like Beats, they fold up small, which makes them convenient to carry when they’re not in use.

We tried the matte black pair, but they’re also available in white or navy. All three of the color options exude a timeless style that won’t go in and out of fashion and instead will always look chic.
How do the JBL Tune 760NC headphones sound?
For music, we tested the headphones on Apple Music and Spotify and were truly impressed by the lively sound quality that elevates both the high and low end of the mix.
But it was the bass we found most impressive as JBL have found a way to punch out bass that’s both deep and powerful. The result is a sound that you feel almost compelled to move along to, whether it’s a toe tap or a head nod.

Would you like a new pair of reliable headphones to take phone and Zoom calls? The JBL Tune 760 NC headphones feature a top quality Bluetooth 5.0 connection
There’s nothing wrong with call quality either. They’re excellent when you’ve got them on walking around the house or office, and just as good outside where you’ve got wind, traffic and other background noise. Not all headphones can cope with calls and background noise, which makes these superior at making calls than other headphones, even at such an affordable price point.
How easy are they to operate?
To pair the headphones on an Apple device, make sure the Bluetooth setting is enabled and navigate to Settings on your device to pair. Android connection is faster thanks to Google’s Fast Pair as the headphones automatically show on a device’s screen.
The connection on the JBL Tune 760 NC headphones is great. They’re rocking Bluetooth 5.0 for a steady and reliable connection that never cut out once during our test.

Choose between using the headphones with a voice assistant like Siri or ‘Hey, Google’ or use the buttons under the ear cups to skip tracks or take calls
Want to pick a new playlist or check the weather? Just ask Siri or Google Assistant. Or use the buttons on the earcup to skip tracks and pick up calls.
Battery life is excellent and we can verify that they can indeed last for 35 hours on a single charge. Two hours of charging gets these Tune 760 headphone’s battery almost full again, which is very impressive.
