Prigozhin jokingly handed over salt to the Wagner fighters after the liberation of the mines of Soledar
The founder of the private military company (PMC) “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin, as a joke, after the liberation of the Soledar mines, handed over Ukrainian salt to his fighters so that they would leave it in the city after its complete liberation. Video posted in Telegram– agency channel RIA News.
“So that there is no talk in America that we are fighting for salt, I am giving the Ukrainian salt to the mining specialist,” he said, turning to one of the fighters with instructions to leave it after the liberation of Soledar. He accepted her, promising to fulfill the order.
Earlier, Prigozhin said that units of the Wagner PMC released and took control of Soledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). He clarified that only the Wagnerites participated in the liberation of the city.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that units of the Airborne Forces blocked Soledar. According to Jan Gagin, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, about 500 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) may remain in the city.
