Shania Twain recalls being air-evacuated to hospital after contracting Covid pneumonia

Shania Twain shared her very scary experience with Covid pneumonia, which got so bad that she had to be air-evacuated to a hospital for treatment.
The Queen of Country Pop, 57, revealed that after getting sick during the height of the pandemic she was struggling to breathe at which point her husband Frédéric Thiébaud, 53, organized an air lift from their home in Lake Geneva, Switzerland.
The That Don’t Impress Me Much hitmaker described the helicopter ride as ‘going to another planet.’
‘It was like science fiction, I felt like I was going to another planet or something. It all kind of happened in slow motion,’ she said.
Twain revealed that her husband was ‘freaking out’ and frantically trying to find her a free hospital bed, which were very limited during that time.
‘He spent hours and hours every day on the phone, trying to get an air evacuation coordinated, trying to get a bed lined up, as there were none, checking my vital signs. It was just a real nightmare for him,’ she explained.
After she got to the hospital the songstress was put in isolation and then treated with plasma therapy.
‘It took several days to start building up any antibodies at all, so it was a very dangerous time and very scary,’ she remembered, adding, ‘I made it through and I’m just so grateful.’
