Chelsea ‘finally agree a deal with Enzo Fernandes’
Chelsea finally agree a British record £105m deal to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, with Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali key in pushing move over the line
Chelsea have agreed a deal with Benfica for midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The deal has been agreed and both clubs are now racing to get the £105 million deal across the line before the deadline.
Fernandez is expected to travel to London shortly after reports earlier that Chelsea’s private jet was in Portugal to complete the deal.
He has been chased by the Blues for some time as they look to strengthen in central midfield following N’Golo Kante’s absence through injury and the recent sale of Jorginho to Arsenal.
Assuming the move can be completed before midnight, it will be for a British record transfer fee, as Chelsea continue to spend big under Todd Boehly.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been among the most sought after players in Europe following his displays for Argentina at last year’s World Cup, where he was named the best young player as Lionel Scaloni’s side lifted the trophy.
More to follow.
