A large number of Moroccan citizens in particular, and Arabs in general, expressed their great concern about the fate of the star of the Moroccan national team and one of the members of the golden team that finished fourth in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, following the devastating earthquake that struck large areas in Turkey and Syria.
Moroccan activists demanded the immediate disclosure of the fate of the captain of the Atlantic Lions, player Roman Sayes, who moved last year to represent the Turkish club Besiktas, especially with the latter’s absence from social networking sites and the failure to publish any message of reassurance to his many fans in the world.
Reliable Moroccan websites quoted a source close to the player as confirming that the Moroccan star was not affected by the earthquake, as he lives in a remote area whose effects did not extend.
The source confirmed that Sayes is in good health and that he was trying to check on his colleague Ayoub Al-Kaabi, who plays for the Turkish club Hatayspor, because the earthquake completely destroyed the area inhabited by Al-Kaabi.
And he indicated that he was completely reassured about Al-Kaabi, and the latter informed him that he was fine, and that he and any of his family members were not harmed.
Later, Sayes published a message via the Story feature on the social networking site “Instagram”, in which he raised the palm of praise and thanks to God, and reassured everyone that he was fine.
And the Turkish newspaper Star had announced in a news broadcast last night that the star of Hatispor club, the Ghanaian player Christian Atsu, and the sports director of the team, Taner Savut, were trapped under the rubble, and rescue teams were trying to pull them out.
Late yesterday, Turkish press reports confirmed that the Ghanaian player was rescued, but he suffers from a number of injuries, in addition to difficulty breathing.
