Health alert: Withdrawal from sale of an anti-dandruff shampoo and a cologne with toxic substances

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps) has communicated the cessation of commercialization and the withdrawal from the market of all the units of two cosmetics marketed by the company Mayfer Perfumes SL, according to an announcement by the consumer organization Facua.

Specifically, it is about Eau de toilette Hugs 100 ml spray and Anti-dandruff shampoo 400 ml. The public body already alerted in October 2022 of the provisional measures on these products for containing the prohibited substance butylphenyl methylpropional, included in the Annex II of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 about cosmetic products.

Now, the General Director of Management, Pharmacy and Inspection of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Cantabria has resolved to maintain the precautionary measures adopted to cease marketing and of use and immobilization and withdrawal from the market of all the units of these two cosmetic products.

The products were detected in the development of the national cosmetics market control campaign 2022 “CMR Substances in Cosmetic Products”.
