Unassuming £420,000 five-bedroom home in Yorkshire goes viral after people spot something VERY unusual in the listing

An unassuming £420,000 five-bedroom home has gone viral after people spotted something very unusual in the online listing.

At a first glance, the detached and spacious property in Beverley, Yorkshire, looks like any other family home.

But when TikToker @housinghorrors stumbled across the listing on Rightmove, he was quick to notice that something ‘very unusual’ was going on.

The house itself looked very normal in the photos, with two bathrooms, a spacious living room and an open plan dining room and kitchen.

But posing in the middle of each photo was someone dressed up as a giant panda.

The Housing Horrors admin couldn’t believe what he was seeing, telling his followers: ‘There is somebody dressed up as a panda in the estate agent’s photos! I’m absolutely lost for words.’

In the kitchen, the panda was sat at the table eating a piece of fruit with a knife and fork.

In another picture, he was sat in the study, working hard at his laptop.

The panda was then pictured relaxing in the bathtub – going all out by adding a small starfish lying on his stomach.

The TikToker continued: ‘I have so many questions. Who is underneath this panda suit? Is it the owner, is it the estate agent?’

He added: ‘This is actually such a good marketing tactic. I’m absolutely done. This is actually so good. I’ve never seen anything quite like this on Rightmove!

‘I feel like estate agents need to do that more often, just have a little bit of fun with the photos.

‘I genuinely do think this is such a smart move as a lot of people do struggle to sell their house, but obviously this is gonna get a lot of clicks cause people are going to start sending it to each other. This is the way to do it people.’

After some investigation, FEMAIL can reveal the house was put up for sale in 2016 – and the panda was none other than the homeowner himself, Lee Wilson.

Lee, 42, rented the panda suit from his local estate agent and wore it for the photos in the hope of bringing the property to life.

Richard Welpton, the director of East Yorkshire-based Quick and Clarke estate agents, bought the suit for £78 from eBay.

He said previously: ‘I get very bored of seeing the same old pictures and videos. For me it’s a bit like groundhog day.

‘I’ve asked lots of clients but no one wanted to do it so then I thought it would be fun to have them dressed in disguise.

‘That idea didn’t catch on until Lee agreed to do it and we’re hoping that it makes the house stand out. We certainly had a lot of laughs shooting the video.’

The marketing ploy was clearly very successful, as Richard said the house received ‘loads of interest’ and was quickly taken off the market. He said the click-through rate was more than five times that of his other properties.

Lee, who put his house up for sale in the hope of downsizing, said: ‘I just thought it was a novel way of showing the house – it’s just a little bit different.

‘I think it will probably be something people will remember, just because it’s a bit random.

‘They’ll always think, “I’ll just have another look at that house with the panda in it”.’
