'Mum, I'm scared' Jury hears heartbreaking final words of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel

Nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel screamed ‘Mum, I’m scared’ as she ran down the stairs at her home moments before she was shot, a court heard today.

Manchester Crown Court heard the schoolgirl had been terrified after hearing accused Thomas Cashman’s guns being fired outside her house in Dovecot, Liverpool.

The bullet went through Ms Korbel’s hand as she desperately tried to close the front door and fatally struck Olivia in the chest.

Jurors heard the mother rushed to be by her daughter’s side, urging ‘Stay with me baby’ as she battled to save her.

Armed police were at the scene within minutes of the 999 call.

Instead of waiting for an ambulance took the critically injured schoolgirl – who still had a faint heartbeat – to hospital themselves in the back of their patrol car.

But tragically Olivia was pronounced dead soon after arrival.

Opening the case – where Cashman, 34, has denied murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent – prosecutor David McLachlan KC said Nee was ‘without doubt the intended target’.
