The United States expresses concern about Iranian chemical weapons containing synthetic opioids

Arab Defense Website November 13, 2024: An American expert has warned that Iran is developing chemical weapons using synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, creating agents that could incapacitate soldiers and civilians alike.

The warning comes amid escalating regional tensions in the Middle East, with concerns that Iran may supply its proxies, including Hezbollah, with these powerful chemical agents for potential use in conflicts.

Matthew Levitt, a senior fellow at The Washington Institute, highlighted these developments in an article for the Counterterrorism Center at West Point, Saying Iran’s pharmaceutical chemical weapons represent a growing threat.
