Lamborghini driver charged after allegedly mowing down a cyclist on Chapel St in Prahran, Melbourne

A Lamborghini driver has been charged after allegedly running over a cyclist in front of shocked partygoers in the heart of a nightclub district.

The cyclist, 46, was crossing Chapel Street in Prahran, in Melbourne, when he was allegedly struck about 10.30pm on Saturday night.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said on Sunday.

A passenger in the car, 14, was treated for minor injuries, while the 24-year-old driver was uninjured.

Footage from the scene shows the white Lamborghini behind police tape with damage to the bonnet and a smashed windscreen. 

The crumpled bike is seen on the road not far away.

The driver, from Sunshine West, was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury and reckless conduct endangering life.

He was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on October 16.
