In a first-of-its-kind study, scientists identify genes responsible for schizophrenia

A recent study, the first and largest of its kind, concluded that changes in brain genes may be responsible for schizophrenia. In the study, published in the journal Nature Genetics, researchers found that people with schizophrenia had rare changes in proteins called SRRM2 and AKAP11. Scientists came to this after comparing the sequence of genes in people.
