Salim Mehajer in spotted in that flash Tesla wearing a $12,400 Hublot watch and $855 Louis Vuitton sunglasses despite being BANKRUPT – after he moaned about being mistaken for a Uber driver

Disgraced property developer Salim Mehajer has been spotted out and about in Sydney driving a flash Tesla while sporting thousands of dollars worth of designer wear.

Bankrupt Mehajer was seen at the wheel of a Tesla Model 3 as he ran errands around the Harbour City on Thursday, wearing a $12,400 Hublot watch and $855 Louis Vuitton sunglasses.

Tesla Model 3s start at $54,900 for the base model and go up to more than $80,000 for the top-of-the-range Performance model.

The ex-Auburn deputy mayor pulled up next to a cafe and ordered a coffee before taking a phone call in the street while he waited for his beverage.

Once his order was ready, he collected his drink, returned to the luxury vehicle, then drove away.

The sighting comes just days after Mehajer made a fleeting return to social media after his release from prison, only to mysteriously delete his video hours later.

The convicted fraudster and domestic violence offender, who has kept a low profile since his release after five years in jail, briefly posted on Instagram to pose a question to his 129,000 followers.

In the clip, Mehajer could be seen behind the wheel of a Tesla Model 3, sporting the same Louis Vuitton sunglasses he was wearing on Thursday.

‘So quick question guys,’ the 39-year-old asked his 129,000 followers, glancing at the traffic as he drove down the street.

‘Should I be offended if someone said, “You look like an Uber driver driving that Tesla”?

‘Let me know.’

Mehajer also added on-screen text: ‘I don’t post videos often… but when it’s serious business (like this one) I must,’ finishing it off with a crying emoji.

The bizarre post disappeared shortly after with no further explanation.

Mehajer was walked out of prison on July 18 following a five-year stint behind bars.

He had been in prison since November 2020, when he was jailed for lying to a court, and has served back-to-back sentences for a string of other offences, including domestic violence against an ex-partner.

Immediately after his release, Mehajer went straight to Westfield Parramatta shopping centre to get a new driver’s licence at the local Service NSW.

He then headed to a cosmetic dentist in Hornsby in Sydney’s north, where he spent an hour getting his teeth fixed.

The NSW State Parole Authority ruled that Mehajer had completed all available programs in prison and his rehabilitation would be better served in the community, under supervision.

As part of his strict parole conditions, Mehajer must undergo drug and alcohol testing, participate in domestic violence programs if directed, and not communicate with any outlaw motorcycle gang bikies or associates.

He is also banned from contacting his domestic violence victim and travelling to the NSW Central Coast.

While in jail, Mehajer launched a desperate attempt to have his bankruptcy discharged amid a slew of legal fights but the Inspector-General in Bankruptcy rejected his appeal and he remains bankrupt until May 2026.

Under the terms of his bankruptcy he is not allowed to own a car worth more than $9,600 after taking into consideration any loan owed against it, with strict restrictions on him being able to borrow money.

It’s not clear which model of Tesla 3 (out of the three tiers; base, mid, or performance) that he is driving or if it is his own personal vehicle.

The Daily Mail is not suggesting he has breached his bankruptcy requirements, just that he has posted footage of himself in a Tesla and admitted to driving one while bankrupt, in a clip which was later deleted before he was seen driving one on Thursday.

His last post to social media was in 2018 which was a selfie wearing a cap and matching backpack but had no caption.

However he reappeared on Instagram stories within hours of his release from jail.

‘I am forever grateful,’ he shared in a post at the time, wearing the same designer sunglasses as in his deleted post from Tuesday.

‘I am fully committed to fulfilling the expectations placed before me.

‘Additionally, I express my sincere appreciation for the unwavering support of my family and friends, as well as the dedication of my legal representative, who has consistently stood by me throughout this journey.’

Mehajer rose to prominence following his elaborate western Sydney wedding, to Aysha Learmonth in 2015, which reportedly cost $1million.

The ceremony began with the groom arriving via helicopter and featured a motorcade of luxury vehicles and doves.

The wedding stirred controversy after the event closed a street in Lidcombe and Mehajer sent fake flyers to neighbours warning them their cars would be towed if they got in the way.

But despite leaving the local council and police furious, Mehajer remained unapologetic about the chaos he caused, instead telling the media he wanted to be the next ‘superstar.’
