Will he EVER get a trim? Back to square one for Manchester United fan who pledged not to cut hair until side won five games in a row

As bad hair days go, Frank Ilett’s is a Premier League top-scorer of a barnet.

The 29-year-old Manchester United fan has pledged to not have a haircut until the Red Devils win five games in a row.

But so far it’s 393 days and counting as he watches Ruben Amorim’s side struggle to pull a string of wins together.

Now Mr Ilett’s challenge has become the focus of a cheeky Paddy Power ad that was screened just as United seemed to close in on the feat after three straight wins.

However, his team faltered to a 2-2 draw yesterday, putting him back to square one.

That result wasn’t in the script of the video uploaded to social media by the betting giant on Halloween.

The skit, which has had more than 660,000 views, shows Mr Ilett’s barber mourning the loss of his customer.

‘It does make me sad, actually,’ the barber says in the video. ‘I miss him. He is one of my best customers. Well, he used to be.

‘He doesn’t even bother to make appointments any more. What’s the point?’

Mr Ilett, known on social media as The United Strand, says in the ad: ‘It just started as a bit of fun really. I didn’t expect it to go on this long, but it’s actually fine. If I’m having a bad hair day, I can just put on a hat.’

Later on, he can runs into his barbers, shouting, ‘It’s time!’ as his barber asks: ‘Man United have won five in a row?’

Confirming its only three wins so far, he tells his hairdresser: ‘I’ll be back soon.’

The skit then fast-forwards six months, with Mr Ilett walking past his hairdresser’s window with an even larger bob, as his barber exclaims: ‘F***ing United.’

The team’s fifth game from now is on December 8, so Mr Ilett, who lives in Spain, has to wait at least five weeks for a trim.
