Beever-Jones starts tonight
Aggie Beever-Jones starts as the main forward this evening and is looking forward to impressing.
“Playing for England is one of the greatest honours,” she said ahead of the match.
“Every time I get the opportunity, I want to show people what I can do and give Sarina the right kind of headaches.
“Every single player wants to play for England and whenever we get the opportunity, it’s about taking it.
“I think it just shows the calibre of players that we have that every single player is a world-class player and ready to perform whenever they put an England shirt on.”

Beever-Jones on China win
The victory over China was a massive confidence boost for England.
Forward Aggie Beever-Jones said: “Coming away from the game, it was a great performance – 8-0 at Wembley.
“Georgia [Stanway] got a hat-trick and I think it was a great team performance and we were able to show some really good quality. I think we had eight or nine clear chances and we got eight goals.
“I think it’s a really exciting time to play a non-European team and a team that England has never played before.
“For me personally, being at Southampton is quite nice. My family are near from the Isle of Wight and they’ll be coming over.
“It’s nice to get a different calibre of people, fans and like Sarina said, to have 24,000 fans and hopefully a few more tickets sold, it’ll be a really, really good game.”

2025 has been incredible for the Lionesses
“It has been an incredible year again with the journey,” Wiegman said when asked to sum up the year for England.
“The season started last year around this time with the team getting prepared for the Euros. I think the camps we had from February towards the Euros was great and I think the tournament itself, I’ve said a couple of times, was an incredible tournament again.
“On the pitch, I still think it was insane how the games developed but off the pitch was really calm and I think I enjoyed it more than I did the other tournaments before. I like now the homecoming too, having these friendlies, connecting with the fans.”

Wiegman on England’s injuries
“Not everyone is available,” Sarina Wiegman said in an update on the fitness of the squad.
“Unfortunately, Grace Fisk picked up a small injury, so she will not be available.
“There’s always connections with the managers and there’s also always calls before and after camp. I’m very aware about the schedule, so you’ll see some changes and try to manage minutes but also we don’t have that many opportunities to play and to play friendlies.
“After this camp, we only have eight more camps to go until the World Cup. We need to qualify first – I know that. You want to use the time together and the minutes on the pitch as much as possible too.”

Sarina Wiegman defends call not to hand out England debuts in China thrashing
Sarina Wiegman defended her decision not to give some new faces a chance during England’s 8-0 drubbing of China.
Some familiar names were on the scoresheet in a one-sided Wembley friendly, with Georgia Stanway notching a hat-trick, Beth Mead hitting a quickfire double and Lauren Hemp, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo also on target.
The Lionesses were 3-0 up after just 16 minutes and five ahead at half-time, when Wiegman made three changes, bringing on three more members of her successful Euro 2025 squad in Chloe Kelly, Jess Park and Lotte Wubben-Moy.

Why didn’t Wiegman hand out debuts versus China?
“We take every game seriously,” said Sarina Wiegman after the friendly win against China.
The head coach was questioned about her starting line-up and why she didn’t give debuts to youngsters Freya Godfrey and Anouk Denton.
Wiegman added: “When we sub three players at half-time, I think that’s enough. We have a squad of 25 and there’s many players that are really knocking on the door. Everyone wants to play.
“Some players are just coming into the squad and they’re really finding their feet. Other players have played for us and are doing a really good job and they’re competing for starting positions. That’s how I look at the game.”
