
Ambassador Wael El-Naggar, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Cultural Relations, participated in the ceremony of handing over two antiquities recovered from Belgium to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, as a continuation of the tireless national efforts and the great interest the Egyptian state and its institutions attach to recovering antiquities smuggled abroad, preserving its cultural property and preserving its cultural history.
This came as a result of joint efforts and cooperation between the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels and all From the Belgian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, the Belgian Public Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian Public Prosecutor’s Office, where the efforts of the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels resulted in the recovery of two pieces, one of which is a valuable wooden coffin dating back to the Ptolemaic era between the third and first centuries BC, and the second is an archaeological fragment of a wooden statue dating back to the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations indicated that this achievement is a culmination. For joint efforts between various state agencies, and in confirmation of full compliance with the Egyptian Antiquities Protection Law, as well as international agreements related to prohibiting and preventing the illegal recovery, export, and transfer of cultural property.
